After five months of maternity leave, I’m excited to share another big transition: I’ve been contracted to serve as interim executive director for the Inside Out Faith Foundation!
In 2010, Christian music artist Jennifer Knapp came out as gay. Like most public LGBTQIA+ Christians, she was expected to explain herself, to justify her (and all other LGBTQIA+ peoples’ existence) despite “what Scripture says.” Yet as she played gigs and spoke at events around the country, she could see the narrowness of this expectation. Biblical literacy 101 isn’t enough. Conversation isn’t enough. Limiting us to apologetics is only sharing crumbs off the master’s table of the theology and praxis we can bring.
So Jennifer started a foundation called Inside Out Faith. IOF looks to bring together, support, and uplift existing and upcoming leaders who embody the diversity of integrated faith, sexuality, and identity. Through community-based local events, social media platforms, and fellowship groups, IOF was built to transform the conversation around LGBTQIA+ spirituality into invigorated faith and practice for people of all genders and sexualities.

Congratulations!
